At risk students come to school with a host of problems. We can all identify and acknowledge these problems, but educators need skills to help children manage their challenges and teach them to develop despite their circumstances.

Topics for discussion will include:

  • strategies to help the vulnerable student move towards becoming a resilient learner
  • questioning and discussion techniques that engage vulnerable students
  • low socio-economic status and how it affects students’ learning
  • tactics to help motivate the vulnerable student
  • academic, social/emotional, and family issues of the vulnerable student

Participants will be given a hour break for lunch.
