As drones continue to grow in both popularity and functionality, businesses are rapidly expanding their uses of these unmanned aerial vehicles. In turn, districts looking for new ways to prepare their students for the changing workforce economy can add drones to their curriculum and watch their students’ engagement with real-world content take flight!

Come learn how in this hands-on workshop! Drone enthusiast and FAA 107 Certified Remote Pilot Ben Sondgeroth will be on hand to offer an introduction to drone terminology, safety issues, legal concerns, and drone options, as well as best practices for implementing drones into the curriculum. Participants will also have the chance to explore the setup and operation of a drone using one of today’s most popular classroom models. As an added bonus, participants who attend this workshop will walk away with a Robomoster Tello Talent drone ($288 value) of their own to bring back to their classroom. This workshop will focus on an introduction to drones and new drone pilots. However, the Tello Talent is a new drone for this workshop and provides a wealth of new options for coding drones in the classroom, which we will explore in greater detail. Including the ability to code an LED matrix board! Please bring a fully charged cell phone or mobile device compatible with the Tello app to the workshop.
