Although standards-based education has been implemented in Illinois schools, accompanying changes to grading and reporting of student growth has not kept pace. Today, there is confusion about what grades mean, how they are calculated, and in what manner they should be used.
This workshop will give strategies to teachers and school leaders on how to bring parents on board with the change to standard-based assessments. It will cover the necessary shifts in tradition, myths surrounding standards-based grading, accuracy of student learning, the homework debate and more!
